Another beautiful day, weatherwise, greeted us this morning. I was keen to kayak out on Kinchant Dam as when we were here last year and we visited the dam, it was very windy and did not look inviting at all, unlike today. Rob was keen to play golf and as the golf course was on the way out to the dam, things worked out very well. Rob dropped me off at the dam and I spent nearly 3 hours enjoying a relaxing kayak while he had fun playing golf. The water was very clear and perfectly calm when I started. I could easily see many large fish in the shallows. I enjoyed watching the various animals, (cattle and horses) either feasting on the shore of the dam or actually wading in the shallows and eating. Beautiful birds including black swans were abundant as were the water lilies. Towards the end of my paddle the wind started to spring up so I decided to head back to shore. It was a little bit of a challenge dealing with the wind but considering I really hadn’t expended too much energy up until then, I probably needed it. I pulled the kayak up on the grass and sat at a picnic table, having a drink from my water-bottle and eating an apple. I’d probably only been there for 20 minutes or so, when Rob called me to say he’d finished his round of golf. We returned to the caravan via the town of Marian where the sugar mill is. We stopped in the town for lunch as we’d both developed a good appetite after our morning’s exercise. We spent the afternoon planning some more of our trip and doing jobs around the van. I also went for a delightful walk around the town of Mirani.
