On the recommendation of some fellow travellers we were heading to Mingo Crossing today. We wanted to arrive at Mingo Crossing, in reasonable time so I could kayak if it was suitable and hence were on the road by 8am. The drive was pretty easy, a bit hilly and windy in some places but nothing too bad. We had to drive through Biloela so this of course meant we needed to stop at our favourite bakery for coffee and a sausage roll. We arrived at the magnificent caravan park located on the banks of the Burnett River around lunchtime and as soon as we’d set up and had lunch I headed out in the kayak and Rob was kept busy with jobs around the caravan and chatting to people. Our site is immaculate, a concrete slab, surrounded by grass and lovely gardens dividing each of the 20 powered sites. There are many large glamping tents and plenty of space for unpowered sites. I enjoyed nearly 3 hours out on the river once again. The variety of wild-life was a highlight as was the stunning scenes in the back-waters as the sun was setting. I hope we will return here and spend a few more nights next time.
