After completing a few little jobs at the local post office, we set out on a longish drive to the Rainbow Beach, a small, coastal rural town, north of Noosa. The drive took us about 90 minutes and we arrived around 12.30pm, just in time to have lunch at the Surf Life-Saving Club. Rob and I had visited this spot before and enjoyed ourselves so we thought Pat would also enjoy the experience. The club had undergone some renovation work and was modernised with a new deck overlooking the beautiful beach below. We all enjoyed our meals and then returned to the car. Our journey back to Noosa was to take us along the beach. We had timed the return so we would be driving on the beach during low tide. We let the tyres down and headed off, enjoying the trip immensely. The beautiful, wide, clean, yellow sands of the beach and the gorgeous blue surf made for a spectacular and comfortable drive. There are camping spots along the beach and we saw quite a few, caravans, trailers and tents set up in various places. We also passed many keen fishers, beach fishing or searching for bait. We had reasonably fine conditions but as we drove closer to Noosa the clouds gathered and at one stage we had a rainbow on Rainbow Beach. The return trip, took less than an hour, driving along the beach and our journey finished with a ferry trip across the Noosa River. The ferry is about a five minute walk from our caravan park so we were back by 4pm.
