We had an uneventful drive from Dubbo to Nyngan, stopping at the lovely little town of Gilgandra for a break and to stretch our legs. Rob has been very good and we have not called into too many bakeries so far, in fact I think the sausage roll count up until today was 1! Well he made up for it today. We called into a lovely little cafĂ© and had coffee and a sausage roll which was very good. We decided to do a walk around the town and explore some of the murals painted on the buildings and on our way back to the caravan we saw the bakery, so Rob decided that he needed to try their giant sausage rolls.J Gilgandra had some lovely murals and one celebrated the “Coo-ee March”. During WW1, in October 1915, local men commenced a Coo-ee March to Sydney as a recruitment drive. The march started in Gilgandra with 35 men and arrived in Sydney in November with 263 men. Interesting history. We arrived at Nyngan and had booked into a fabulous park located on the banks of the Bogan River (The Riverside Tourist Park). We have a huge site and the amenities are outstanding. There are many camp kitchens and one is located, overlooking the Bogan River and has a huge bar area and sitting area. We did some more exploring in the afternoon, before heading to the Pub for dinner.
