Over the last couple of days, our plans changed a little when we realised that no matter where we were going to go in NSW, it was going to be wet for the next couple of days. Originally we had hoped to head to the town of Lake Cargelligo, where I intended to put the kayak in. We had driven through this town last year and noticed the nearby lake. Unfortunately with the rain we decided it just wasn’t worth it and so headed to Dubbo instead. We actually were here around this time last year but being a large town we thought we could probably find some indoor activities to do over the next two days. The rain hadn’t started when we commenced our drive from Blayney but after an hour or so, it started. Unbeknown to us, our route took us on the “Animals on Bikes” tour. These quirky sculptures of various animals on bikes were everywhere on both sides of the road. It made the journey fun, despite the rain starting. After setting up in Dubbo, we went to a shopping centre to have some lunch, shop and stay dry. From here we visited the tourist information centre before visiting a quaint art and craft collective. We bought a couple of small things but enjoyed chatting to the lovely lady who with her friends, were in the shop doing their various crafts. She would have been aged in her late eighties and was really on the ball. She had done quite a bit of caravanning with her husband and was very interested in where we had been and where we were going.
